Some recent work........

So I have have been going through rather a bit of a pink, black and white stage. You'll be glad to know I have moved on now. It's it funny when you simply get something in your head, and you just have to go for it, well, any pink paper for about two weeks was seriously shaking in its boots. I was on a pink paper rampage. Here's the results though, have to say I am very plaesed with my outcome though!

Then you in return need to post on your blog that you are paying it forward and send a gift to the first three people to comment on your blog, so forth and so on?

Moraki Boulders............

These things were so cool. When we heard about them, we thought they must have been created by the sea washing over them, but once we got there we completely stunned to find out that they had formed as boulders in the earth millions of years ago, and lay in the cliffs for just about ever, and it was the eventual errossion of the cliff that set them free. The ocean washes away the clay and mud around them and then the boulders just roll out into the beach. There are other examples of these around the world, but apparently these are the most spherical of them all. It was stunning seeing them all scattered on the beach like discarded toys. so, so beautiful, and really very fun also.

Lake Tekapo......

Just a few more pic of Lake Tekapo. It was such a small place, but so beautiful. We only stayed over night, so not too many zany stories. I was how ever so in awe of the YHA cat, who just got out there in the morning, playing in the snow. I wonder if his toes were cold, but it didn't seem to bother him.

Christchurch............

So a few more pics from around Christchurch. It's a beautiful city, I imagine this is what England would be like, but I really don't know I haven't been to England .....yet. It's a particularly flat city, and every second shop just about is a bike shop, though honestly, we didn't see that many people riding in the city. Its a low building city, no buildings more than say 20 storeys an they were all Hotels, and really the CBD was much smaller than Perth. I really was surprised, but I guess there city population is a quarter of ours. I was also really was amazed at how clean the streets were, there was never any rubbish around, and all the water in the river Avon was crystal clear. Apparntly Christchurch still has the cleanest water in the world, and I can vouch for that. So the first pic is the Remeberance Archway in the centre of the CBD. The second pic is of the Mountains, we went to Pan'n'Save, and this was the view. Still taken from the CBD, so you can see what I mean about a low, small city. And the last two are some instalation art that we saw at the Cultural Centre. New Zealand has so much Gothic Revival architecture, it was amazing, and I think there was an effort to maintain and preserve all their old buildings if they could which I really loved. So the Cultural Centre was set in the old Christchurch University, a truely amazing collection of buildings, all Gothic style, so beautiful.

Well I'll post more again tomorrow.

Let it snow........

Well Im back, safe and sound, full of fun and tales, and also apparently with a bit of a tan. Who'd of thought you could get a tan in the coldest place I have ever been in my entire life?

I will have to do pics and story a little bit at a time as we took nearly 1500 photo's while we were away, not all fabulous, alot of double chins in most actually, so Im busy sorting, deleting, and working out which ones to print as we speak.

Ok well Im going to start with the snow, my personal fave, could so move somewhere where it snowed all the time actually. So on day three of our trip, we booked a day trip to Mt Hutt, about an hour and a half out of Christchurch, to go skiing. I have been to the snow once before here in Australia, but Lawley had never even seen it so it was all very exciting, I think I was more excited for him, as I am soooo in love with snow. Our little minivan picked us up at about 7:30am and we travelled with some other daytrippers, who happened to also be from Perth, go figure. Couldn't have been a bus full of European travellers, no every one from Perth was on holiday in New Zealand. Anyway back to the story. We travelled to Darield, where we stopped at a ski hire shop and got fitted out in all our marshmellow man glory. Serioulsy when you have about four layers of clothes on you start to feel just a little bit like the white puffy man from Ghostbusters the movie, and rightly so, fall over and there is enough padding to break that fall, well at leasted I hoped!!!! So we travelled on a bit further until we came to the Mt Hutt Turn off, and I have to say, all the way I was mesmerised by the snow covered Mt caps, and honestly, I've been to Mts in Australia, but we actually have no clue as to what real Mts look like, these were real Mts and I was sooo excited. I strained to see the road leading up the Mt and to see the ski lodge, but it took me a little while to realize that I wasn't going to see them, this MT was way biger than my perception had me believe. So we started up the Mt Hutt road, when suddenly it turned from sealed road, to gravel track! Ok I was feeling relatively calm until the side of the hill turned into the cliff on the side of the MT, and the road was perched right on the edge!!!!. Lucky me, fraidy cat, scared of heights also happened to be on the side that looked straight down!!!! Well I got the sweats, had a little bit of a momentary panic, anf then took a deep breathe, and promised my self, the view was worth dying for!!! It really was, I have to say, but you now, add alittle bit of snow to the gravel track barley clinging to the edge of the MT, and I was in panic attack heaven. Despite my fear, It was an amazing ride up the Mt to the lodge, and I was glad and excited to be there, and about to go skiing for the very first time!!!

So we got all our ski passes and booted up, all fasinating, and were ready to ski!! None of the ski lifts were open , and all the experienced skiiers around were alittle bummed, but all us beginners, headed for the bunny slope to try and learn to stay on our feet. This was a little difficult as it was particularly windy that day. 100km winds were just blowing straight up the Mt and with every gust people were knocked to the floor. I am proud to say even amongst that, I never fell over once, bit proud I am. We were half way through our first ski lesson, which I have to add was really cool, I think I love skiing, well If I ever really get to do it, and the fact the instructer was a spunk did help. Anyway got to keep my focus, the Mt was closed half way through our first ski lesson. I was bummed, I was finally there, was finally going to do it, and we get shut down. We were offered to come back the following day, but as we were starting our driving leg of our trip we were unable too. Luckily for us, we were not charged for the skiing, just the trip to the Mt, which was very cool, and I will definalty be going back to the snow so time soon, to resume my ski adventure.

The next day we were driving to lake Tekapo, the highest lake above sea level, and over night there as a cold snap, so as we were making the three hour trip the sky got darker, the air got cooler, about 0-1 degree, and then we noticed cars coming the other way were covered in snow, what luck, more snow. When we arrived in Lake Tekapo, we found we had a room at the YHA that over looked the lake, beautiful, and we decided to go for a walk, we rugged, up, got all our things together, and in the time it took to walk from our room, and went through the front door, the heavens had opened and snow was falling. I snapped the most amazing pic of Lawley standing in it as the snow fell around us. More snow fell over night, and we had the most amazing views from our window and front door of our room/cabin.

I love snow, I really do, well enough from me today, will tell another tale soon.

I have got to say, I am to, to, to excited now. The official count down is on now, I leave for New Zealand on Thursday. OMG! I've got my passport, as you can see, and tomorrow is the big clean up the house day for the house sitter, and then to packing. I can not wait, it's to surreal. I have to say it again, I am going to an International Airport, who'd have ever thought I would get there? Not me, but in two days I will be!

Well got go, getting far to excited, getting a bit of a head spin.

Till I get pack, be well, and keep safe. Have Fun,

My G'ma.......

Isn't she adorable, just love my G'ma. My cousin John had his 18th birthday over the weekend, and my family went to a resurant to celebrate this milestone. Great evening on food and conversation, and got a mess of photos from th night including this one of my G'ma and me.

Well the count down is really on now, two weeks tomorrow till we leave for New Zealand. Have a bit planned. Flying into Christchurch and then scooting off to Mt Hutt to the snow. I would love to go skiing, never done that, but Lawley really doesn't want to ski himself, so I may have to leave skiing again for another time, and do stuff we can both do together. I don't know yet, we will see.

Then we are moving onto Mt Cook, to walk on a Glacier. Very exciting, the ice is 600mtrs think and from the pics it looks spectacular. A few more day of seeing the sights of the South island, not sure if we will make it as far as Queenstown, might have to save that for the next time we go. Once back up to Christchurh, we will be going to Mt cavindish for a day. Going to catch the gondalas to the top and then hopefully weather permitting, we will cycle down the volcano. How cool is that.

From Christchurch, we are flying to Rotarua, where the conference that Lawley is presenting at will be. We get in on the 8th of September, The conference starts on the 10th, which is also my birthday, so will have to think of something special to do on that day by my self. I have 4 days while Lalwey is at conference to amuse myself alone in Rotarua, so that should be fun, imagine what I could get up to!!! There's a tubogan park some where close I believe.

Once the coference is over we will be flying down to Wellington for a few days of more exciting sightseeing before flying home on the 16th of September. It's all very exciting, and I don't know how im going to wait the two weeks.

This trip is exciting for so many reasons, I mean who doesn't want to go on holiday, but really it is my first overseas trip so it's a biggy for me. It's one step closer to my Europe trip that has never seen the light of a passport.

Much excitment. We are off jacket shopping this week, like serious cold weather clothing, so that will be exciting. Everything is exciting.

Im going to an International airport, I can't believe it.

Oh so cute.......

I had to post a piture of my cat Kassie! I was playing with the super macro function on my camera the other day, and got some wonderful close ups of her! She was none to impressed at having my camera in her face for 10 mins or so, and got very upset. I had to make it up to all afternoon, by putting the heater in the lounge on and giving her some special fish for dinner. She soon got over it, she really is a bit of diva! Thats why she has her diva T-shirt to wear in the winter!

My god she's funny!.......

I have to say, I introduced my best bud to the world of blogging a couple of weeks ago. She's a writer and I though it might be a nice forum for her to just play and have some fun, to rant and as she put it "make space" for other cool stuff to fill her head, which she would be able to translate to the page. She's a little slow at the posting at the moment, not to tech savy and some what shy about the puter, but her post to date are funny as hell, there is a link at the side of my blog 'Making Space" go visit, and leave her a message, hopefully it will encourage her to post more stuff for us to read.

Love ya Bec, keep writting honey!!!!

Isn't she just adorable? This is Lyndsey, one of my closest friend, little baby girl. It is actually the first LO I have done, of her, and I am actually starting an album, just for her daddy. Not much else to report about this week, really, just been an ordinary week with nothing out of the ordinary happening. Hopefully this week week will bring something special. Only six weeks to go till I'm off to New Zealand, I'm really getting a bit excited you know.

Till then,

Silly me.....

So yesterday I spent some time doing the current dare at Aussie Dares site. Do you like it, yeah I was pretty happy, excited and the 6x12 format was much easier to do than I thought it would be. So anyway, went to have a look to see if anyones work had been posted yet, and I decided to re-read the intructuions for this dare. Finds from an op shop.... check, 6x12 format.......check, NO PATTERED PAPER!!!!.........ah shite I used pattered paper. I think this will teach me to slow down and really read things. How could I miss that, and it was in capitals as well, and I think maybe even underlined. Im soooo silly some times. Beside that major mess-up, I like it. I won't be sending it in though, seeing as I muffed up. I will have to make sure I read much more closley next time.

Sunday afternoon......

I have to say that I love nothing better than a lazy sunday afternoon on the couch with Lawley. Amazing sunlight streaming through the windows, the sound of football in he background lulling me to sleep. I was incredibly calm, happy and oh so content yesterday. Don't you wish everyday was like that?

I've been tagged again......

ooohhh, im a bit popular this weekend, how cool....

Here's the deal:

1-post these rules
2-each person tagged must post 8 random (... hopefully interesting) facts about themselves
3-tags should write a blogpost of these facts
4- at the end of the post 8 more bloggers are tagged and named
5-go to their blog and leave a comment telling them they're tagged

Here are my 8 random facts..

1. I have no sence of smell! nothing at all. I had a nose like a wolf when I was a child and around the age of 5 it just went on
holiday, and never came back.

2. I have lived in 27 houses in my short 30 years on this planet. My mother is a complete Gypsy.

3. I have never been out of Australia, but about to remedy this in about 8 weeks!

4. I have always worked in Male dominated work environments, and now work in a 100% Female dominated work
environment, and loving every minute of it.

5. The first job i applied for after finishing high school, was as a Vexalologist? Flag maker, pretty cool huh, sep I didn't get
the job.

6. My partner and I have been together as a couple for 10 years now. We have been freinds for 13 years.

7. My last name is not my birth name. My mother changed my last name by depole so I would have the same as my brother.

8. I have food issues. I hate fruit, just can't go there. And like I cant have say apple pie and custard in the same bowl, it's just wrong. If they are in different bowls I will eat seperatly, but can not put them together. I dont drink coffee at all, never have, oh once, but that decided it for me that I just can't like it. I only ever eat pinapple if it is on a pizza. I hate tomatoes, cucumber, zuchini, squash, you know any yucky vegi like that, but on the flip side, love like mushrooms, blue cheese, and caviar, so go figure.

Ok, I tag..... I don't think I know eight people........

1. Natalie
2. Kelsey
3. Vivian
4. Tania
5. Nichole
6. Kelly
7. Cath
8. Chelle

bad, bad blogger......

...and a totally bad scrapper too! haven't blogged in a while and also haven't scrapped in that long also. I have some really bad insomnia at the moment, and you would think that i would be getting lots of work done with all those many hours awake at night, but no, not getting anything done. i just seem to look at things, never eventually getting any actual work finished. i have a plan to break the insmnia, but have to wait till sunday night to put the plan into action.

im pretty excited about tonight, i am working at scraptivate, which i love, but then on top of that a group of ladies from the scrapbooking memories forum are coming along to the crop night. i have met a few of them, but it will be great to meet a few more.

i only woke up like and hour ago, and it's time to start getting ready for work already.

promise i will have a pic of new work next time i blog.

Late night scrapper........

When I got home from work last night, which was about 8pmish, I was playing around with a few things that just happen to be on the coffee table, and came up with this LO. So I spent the rest of the night putting it together. I loved it last night, but now I feels it's a little bit flat or something. Anyway, I have to thank Audrey Underwood as I scraplifted the idea of using the Queen and CO felt ribbon and putting brads through the flower centres. I loved the look of it so just had to do it. Thanks Audrey.

I have finally done it.........

I have been a 12" x 12" scrapper from the start, and just lately have been feeling the need to do a different size. I don't know why, but I have. I have done a few 8" x 8" pages with my kids class on tuesday afternoons and have gotten a feel for this size, so today I decided to do one. I chose to do the lastest dare on the Aussie dares site "It's all in the title, why not kill two birds with one stone, (not literally though, I would never do that). So this is it, the dare stipulated that a variety of materials where to be use in the title, I did do several of these, like using chipboard, stamping, and hand cut, but not all in the title. Well really it's a starting platform and it's about having fun no?, so I deviated slightly but I think thats ok. Let me know what you think?

Must fly, work is calling.

North Beach and New Zealand.......

Two amazing adventures ahead of me, one today and one in about ten weeks. So today, Natalie and I are off to the Autism crop, just very excited I must say. And at the end of August I finally get out of the country!!!! Don't get me wrong, I love my home, but when you have been trying to go see the world, or at least some of it since you were 15 years old you get a bit excited. The great thing is I only have to suffer through ten weeks before we go. I had a trip to Europe all planned for my 30th birthday last year, and I had been planning this since my 27th, so you can imagine my excitment, only to be crushed at the 3rd hour. My partner loves his job, and he got a promotion, which meant the trip had to be cancelled until a later date. I was completely devistated to tell you the truth, I had to even take a short 4 day holiday in Broome, to make it all seem a little less terrible, I did make it as far as Broome for my 30th birthday. That was lovley, but yeah, New Zealand, just toooo excited.

Well must go do some final packing for today, till then.

Black and Green.........

This is the layout that I created to send in for the 'Colour Expert" comp being run by Scrapbook Creations. I posted it off and waited a while and it returned to me with a lovely rejection letter, I knew hundreds of people would enter, but I gave it a go. Actually three of us from Scraptivate entered, Myself, Audrey and Natalie, and guess what? Audrey and I got ours back, a little disappointing, but it's about having fun really, so no harm done. But Natalie's fabo page was a Finalist. Yeah for Natalie, it's ever so exciting, and her layout was even on display at the recent papercraft expo in Brisbane, even more exciting. Anyway, when Natalie's page comes home, all three will be on display in the the store, so come down and have a look. I think that's all from me.

Oh wait, Im off to a crop for a cure (for Autism) this Saturday. I'm really looking forward to it, it's been quite a while since I have been to such a big scrapping event. And I'm spending the day with some of the other girls from the store, so It will be great. I really have so much talent and experience to draw from, from the staff at Scraptivate, it really is a dream job. Im so lucky.

Well not much more to say except I have some exciting news maybe, but I can't tell yet, you will just have to keep checking back.

Meatballs and Wisdom.......

Well, it's been a interesting week so far. Lawley had surgery on monday to have his wisdom teeth removed and is now at home recovering. I though I would have to be totally self sufficient this week (he cooks I don't) so in preparation I made a huge lasagna and a whole tray full of tiny meatballs. I am pretty proud of myself to tell the truth. I am what you would call the female version of a batchelor, except I'm not single. If food doesn't go straight from the freezer to the oven for 20mins and is then ready to eat, I pretty much don't want anything to do with it. I have my moment, I mean, I'm really very good at it, when I can be bothered, it just doesn't excite me. It's more like work than fun for me. Anyway, Lawley is getting better everyday, although it seems his face is getting bigger everyday from the swelling, and I am injoying my cooking. So all in all a good week so far.

Such a mess......

So this is my scrap space. It is out of control messy. Im terrible really, I work and just make piles of stuff to put away. The problem lies in that the putting away part doesn't come around all that often. I have so got to learn to be neater. I can just here my Grandmother in my head, "when you have finished with something , put it away straight away. This way you have a tidy place and you always now where everything is". She's right you know, but I some how missed that gene when I was in the genetic queue. I have to confess also, as I have been spending more time a home of late scrapping, I have made an equally bad mess on the coffee table in the loung room. You would think that one space is enough, but it seems the temptation to watch DVD's while scrapping is too strong, so I have a second mess to deal with. It's all to much really, think I will have to spent my sunday, truely cleaning up.

200 Photo's.......

Can you believe I took 200 photo's just yesterday? I think the new camera might be a bit dangerous. I attended a canvas class on Saturday and am so happy with my work, it will be given to my G'ma as a present. Also a quick post of a page I finished over the last two days. Just a little pic from the Emily Falconbridge class I went to earlier this year. I was at a little crop last night with some of the girls I work with, and I had promised myself to finish two pages. Did I get there I here you ask? Sadly no, I did nearly complete this page. Left there for home about 1:30 am and just wanted to keep going when I got home, so put in a DVD and worked until around 6:30 this morning. Had to go to bed then, and despite all intentions of having a sleepy old day, I had half a dozen phone calls and not so much sleep, so as a result I am really quite shattered at the moment. It was worth it for the Lo though. I am off to bed early as I have a full day ahead of me at the store tomorrow and my tuesday kids class too.

I've been tagged........

Thanks for tagging me Melissa, how exciting.

Name three things that scare you... Heights, the ocean, and snails.
The daggiest thing in your music collection... New kids on the block, sorry folks, it was a huge childish crush.
Your three favourite clothing items... SHOES!!!!, Bangles, Handbags.
Your partners most annoying habit... The huge, and still growing pile of newspapers in the corner of the dinning room. He just won't get rid of them.
What stresses you out... Bills, and bad drivers.
If I could change the world I would... Pay teachers a hell of a lot more, they are the futures of our children, redistribute global wealth, Employ Al Gore and turn the entire environment thing around the best we could.
Your favourite household chore… folding socks, just love it.
If you had fifty bucks to spend at Target which section would you head straight for… Shoe section or kitchen ware.
In my next life I would like to come back as… a cat.. would love to eat, sleep on window sills in the sun and have my back rubbed my whole life.
Your least favourite celebrity…Paris Hilton, seriouly, the girls needs to get a clue and a job.

I tag Natalie, Luci, and Nichole.

It's all about love today.......

It really is. I picked up my new camera last night, and spent the evening setting it up and reading the manual, yes I know I could have just played with it, but I really want to know how to use all the functions properly. So today is going to be a day full of taking pictures, which Iove. Also, im sitting here on the puter in my PJ's, updating myself on all my favorite blogs, have been doing this for a good hour or so now, when Lawley, my incredible partner, brings me a cup of tea. The best cup of tea I have had in a good while. He made it to perfection today, warm, milky and with the right amount of tea. Got to love that kinda love! Any hoo, off to clean myself up and go find something to take a picture of. I will leave you with a couple of pics (the last from the old camera) of the WA Museum, an amazing building. I took them on a little trip to the city I took the other day to catch up with an old friend who was in town.
