Couture Creations 2014 Design Team Audition.

Good Evening All,

Welcome to my Audition blog post for the Couture Creations Design Team.

I have a couple of projects that I have created using some of Couture Creations gorgeous Dies, and also some of their embossing folders coupled with some easy, but effective techniques.

So here we go....... I have long been a die junkie ( as my close scrappy friends know) but have been in awe of the Couture Creations dies that I have. They cut so amazingly well, and with such fine detail they are just beautiful.

The die cuts on this layout are simply cut from car stock in black and white. The Couture Creations dies left a very crisp finished edge on all the cuts.

Couture Creation Dies used: Celestial Doily Die- CO723220, Ivy Set Doily Die - CO723222, Heirlooms - CO723490.

I have cut all the die pieces out of black card stock for this layout but have used some silver building wax to highlight the embossing on the scallop circle and the Celestial die cut.

Couture Creations dies and embossing folders used: Celestial Doily Die - CO723220, Damaris - CO723477, Mimi - CO723476, Bossa - CO72501,  Large Damask Flourish - CO723449.

Couture Creations Die used: Tattered Lace Doily Die - CO723223.

I used the Couture Creations Embossing folder to emboss foil tape and then layered up washes of acrylic paint over it, then sanded it back to give this a weathered tin feel.

Couture creations dies and embossing folder used: Marant - CO723505, Mimi - CO723476, Large Damask Flourish - CO723449.

I do hope you like them, please stop by the Couture Creations Website to see the full range of beautiful dies and embossing folders that they have to offer. You won't be disappointed.

Camp Mojo 2013

Hi All,

Yep it is me again. Can you believe it, so soon! I know right. Well I had some thing I want to tell you about and some work I did.
I had the privilege of going to Camp Mojo 2013!
It was last August in the Hunter Valley in NSW. I travelled across again (I went two years previously also to the very First Camp Mojo in 2011) with Jenny Burns, Tina Dalton and Jen Hedger.
We got our creative on in a big way! Four straight days of non stop creating time and did we make good use of it too!
As we had to carry over everything we might need for the camp we had to choose wisely as to what we took. To make it even harder for myself I was not coming home from Camp, but flying straight on to Singapore for a holiday with my partner.
Talk about hard to pack. Scrap gear, cold clothes for NSW and hot clothes for Singapore.

I did quite well I have to say I think my scrap gear weighed in at around the 5kg mark, all neatly packed into one art bin satchel. ( don't fret, I had a stash of $ to buy some goodies to play with once I got there)

As I was doing some classes that weekend I took a small stash of photos and some of the staples. Glue, tape, ink, card stock, some stamps some chippy and a few random embellishments.

But............ did I ever discover a new love! oh yes I did.

Stencils, texture paste and Dylusions Sprays!

OOOh and sequins, a new obsession!

Oh my goodness. I had the most wonderful time creating away.

There was so much inspiration to draw from and I took a little bit of knowledge from so many amazing crafters there. Louise Nelson, Peg Hewitt, Lisa Oxley, Jo Kinder and so so many more!

I didn't actually do this one at Camp Mojo, I created this as part of the challenge  for the Heidi Swapp day last October, but there are those Dylusions that I love!

Love love love this layout. Used pics of me and Belinda Spencer when I stopped by to meet her IRL on my way out of Adelaide on my trip to SA in March last year.

I won a little prize at camp for this layout, I think from memory we had to just use Chevrons? It was fun to do any how and love how it ended up.

I saw a layout that peg Hewitt was working on and she had sprayed these hearts on the corrugated board and I fell in love and had t borrow that idea from her. I just love it.

I had the most amazing time with Louise Nelson doing both her classes. I learnt some fun new techniques and played with new products I hadn't previously used, and created these two layouts below. I have to say it was hard at first to not add heaps of embellishments which is part of my normal style most of the time, but I still have so much more on my pages than Louise had.

The layout "You make my heart Smile" is particularly special to me now. This is my most favourite picture of my Grandmother (my G'Ma), and I lost her not a month and half after I made this.
I've had it framed and it sits very proudly in my craft room now.

Show and Tell

Hiya Everyone! Just catching you up on a bunch of stuff that I've been doing. I have had a massive creative buzz over the cold months. Nothing like sitting all rugged up in your room creating away. First up I have this layout of my gorgeous friend Megan's baby girl. She's just adorable and only just a few days old in this photo. Nawwwwhhh......

I created this one as a class for Tomorrow's Memories in Bassendean, and it was so loved by the ladies that visit that we had to run the class twice. WOW!

This next one was also a class at Tomorrow's Memories and showcased this gorgeous Kaiser range of paper, Flowers from Green Tara (including those sweet sweet daisy vines! yum!!), and the new Mould from Mould's by Mel

I popped this next one in as I have'y shown this. It's been a sample in the store for a while but just love these photos of me and jenny together. Don't tell her but she rely is just the best friend a girl could ask for!!!

I have just completely fallen in love with paper range and was so delighted when i got it as a Design Team pack to work with. The vintage mustard colour was perfect for the photo of my mother when she was sixteen.

I've done a few things for the Angie Delarie Design team too! Had some fun with inks and mists and stamps to create this journal cover using "Winter", one of her new digital stamps. These are just so much fun and so easy to use.

And also a couple of pages in my Smash book. Love love love the cheeky Pilot and had to use him with my photos from Bali.

We got a jump on christmas and did some Christmas in July Cards to get the ladies at Tomorrow's Memories started on there cards early for christmas this year. We had a great time colouring our own backgrounds using the amazing resist Tim Holtz kraft card stock. Simply stunning.

And last but not least I would be me if i didn't leave you with a picture of my girls snuggle to ether. hahahaha notice the stuffed toy? thats to stop them fighting.

Love

Mel
